Morning Hair Routine:
A Special Time Together 🌷

I know, I know... Morning are pure chaos sometimes! But, here goes my encouragement to you: The morning hair routine can serve as a bonding experience. It opens up space for conversations and connection before the day picks up speed.

Something that was a big game-changer for us was incorporating creative elements, like themed tutorials or fun videos.

Our absolute favorite:
I Don't Want to Brush my Hair! 👑 Cartoons For Kids 👑 Little Princess

This 3min video serve multiple purposes for us:

  • Brought laughter and fun into our stressful mornings

  • Served as a timer for us to be ready on time

  • Allowed my daughter to learn about self-care and kindness

  • Opened up tons of conversations!

Crafting and Painting:
Let's Get Creative! ✨

Creative activities such as crafting and painting provide unique bonding opportunities.

Here are my 5 tips for setting up a successful crafting space to avoid mess and ensure fun:

  1. Gather and set up all supplies needed for the craft

  2. Make sure your little one is wearing either old clothes or something you do not mind them staining (specially if using paint!)

  3. Have instrumental music play for ambiance or even a snack!

  4. Cover the surface you will be working on with a tablecloth or a plastic cover for quick clean up

  5. Ask questions and connect with your little one!

Body Doubling: Cleaning and Organizing as a Team 🤝

"Millie, what in the world is 'body doubling' anyway?"
Great question! I would love to tell you:

Body doubling is the practice of doing a task in the presence of another person, whether that’s an assignment, a work project, housework, or exercise. The body double might be performing the same action or a similar one, but not necessarily. Body doubles can observe the action, but they can also simply read or listen to music on headphones.

When applied to a mother and daughter relationship, cleaning and organizing can foster a sense of ownership and teamwork.

By making chores fun, you can instill a sense of accomplishment while spending quality time with your kid.

Cooking Together:
A Recipe for Bonding 🥘

This is for sure one of our favorite things to do together! Here are some of the fundamentals you need to remember when attempting to cook alongside your little one:

  1. Assigning age-appropriate tasks: this not only teaches essential skills but also promotes independence and boosts their confidence.

  2. Texture matters to them: Slow down and give them a change to explore this new sensory experience.

  3. Nutrition above all else: Sharing responsibility in the kitchen can ignite conversations about nutrition and the way food impacts our body. Use this as a chance to teach them the concept of food as fuel rather and help them choose foods that will boost their energy and their little immune system.

  4. Have fun, mom! These moments don't last forever.

Regular everyday activities are perfectly capable of creating meaningful connections.

Cooking, gardening, or creative projects involve teamwork and lead to beautiful conversations. Embracing these unconventional bonding moments enriches the mother-daughter relationship, proving that quality time is about the connection forged in the process.
